Nonlinear Fluctuations of Interacting Particle Systems

چکیده
We introduce what we call the second-order Boltzmann-Gibbs principle, which allows to replace local functionals of a conservative, onedimensional stochastic process by a possibly nonlinear function of the conserved quantity. This replacement opens the way to obtain nonlinear stochastic evolutions as the limit of the fluctuations of the conserved quantity around stationary states. As an application of this second-order Boltzmann-Gibbs principle, we introduce the notion of energy solutions of the KPZ and stochastic Burgers equations. Under minimal assumptions, we prove that the density fluctuations of one-dimensional, stationary, weakly asymmetric, conservative particle systems are sequentially compact and that any limit point is given by energy solutions of the stochastic Burgers equation. We also show that the fluctuations of the height function associated to these models are given by energy solutions of the KPZ equation in this sense. Unfortunately, we lack a uniqueness result for these energy solutions. We conjecture these solutions to be unique, and we show some regularity results for energy solutions of the KPZ/Burgers equation, supporting this conjecture.

Finite-size fluctuations in interacting particle systems.
Fluctuations may govern the fate of an interacting particle system even on the mean-field level. This is demonstrated via a three species cyclic trapping reaction with a large, yet finite number of particles, where the final number of particles N(f) scales logarithmically with the system size N, N(f) approximately ln N. Statistical fluctuations, that become significant as the number of particle...

We study interacting spin (particle) systems on a lattice under the combined influence of spin flip (Glauber) and simple exchange (Kawasaki) dynamics. We prove that when the particle-conserving exchanges (stirrings) occur on a fast time scale of order ~-2 the macroscopic density, defined on spatial scale e -~, evolves according to an autonomous nonlinear diffusion-reaction equation. Microscopic...
متن کاملCurrent and Density Fluctuations for Interacting Particle Systems with Anomalous Diffusive Behavior
We prove density and current fluctuations for two examples of symmetric, interacting particle systems with anomalous diffusive behavior: the zero-range process with long jumps and the zero-range process with degenerated bond disorder. As an application, we obtain subdiffusive behavior of a tagged particle in a simple exclusion process with variable diffusion coefficient.

Recent work on stochastic interacting particle systems with two particle species (or single-species systems with kinematic constraints) has demonstrated the existence of spontaneous symmetry breaking, long-range order and phase coexistence in nonequilibrium steady states, even if translational invariance is not broken by defects or open boundaries. If both particle species are conserved, the te...
متن کاملField theories and exact stochastic equations for interacting particle systems.
We consider the dynamics of interacting particles with reaction and diffusion. Starting from the underlying discrete stochastic jump process we derive a general field theory describing the dynamics of the density field, which we relate to an exact stochastic equation on the density field. We show how our field theory maps onto the original Doi-Peliti formalism, allowing us to clarify further th...
